Die einzige wirkliche Überraschung für mich als Single-Malt-Enthusiasten war allerdings, dass selbst Mr. Cox unsicher ist, wie das "ch" in Glenfiddich auszusprechen ist (erst wie in "Koch", weiter unten dann wie "g").

I would have thought that the importance of proper pronunciation here is in inverse proportion to how far down the list you get... LOL or, rather, hic!

Ist ja schon bei Loch Ness oder Loch Lomond nicht anders (z.B.): manche sagen Loch, andere sagen Lock.

In dem Film "Warum hab' ich ja gesagt?" (Original: Designing Woman, 1957) genehmigt sich Lauren Bacall (alias Marilla Brown Hagen) einen Glenfiddich; in der deutschen Synchronisation spricht sie das als "Glenfidditsch" aus. Diese Aussprache wurde deshalb in der Folge von vielen deutschen Whisky-Fans als die korrekte angesehen.

Noch ca. 1990 stieß ich in einer deutschen Kleinstadt auf einen Club jugendlicher Whisky-Freunde, die allen Ernstes meinten, "Glenfidditsch" sei die richtige Aussprache. Und dann bot man mir dort noch einen "Lotsch nejger" an - einen Loch Nagar wohlgemerkt...

I've queried Glenmorangie two or three times (maybe even here in the forum) and every time I forget the answer -- which syllable is accented, whether the G is hard or soft.

But actually, in the not terribly upscale establishments where we occasionally come across a couple of single malts behind the bar that no one else seems to ask for, the wait staff are usually even more clueless, so I would have had to spell it out anyway. (-:

Im IE8 geht's bei mir auch, dort lädt es sogar noch schneller als im O. und startet automatisch ... nach etwas Werbung ...

Ähnliches wird bei der Aussprache von Bruichladdich den Zuschauern des Videos auch empfohlen: "I you are in the US, better stick to "Brooke-Laddy" :-)
