    Fernbedienung- box or remote?

    Kommentar
    Hi guys,

Just because I'm curious: What do you call a " Fernbedienung "? Box or remote? Or even something totally different ?

    Thanks a lot,
    Greetings from Fethard

We call it 'flicker' in our house. People call it all sorts of things :-)

The box would be the intermediary between the remote and the TV. You push a button on the remote, it tells the box to change channels (or whatever), and the box then relates that signal to the TV (that is, if yiou have either satellite or cable TV).

    Thanks for your responses!
@ #4: Well, I know Mans families (mine too) call the very thing you hold in your hands when switching the TV Channel a box.... Maybe that's not really correct, but it's done anyway;-)

I know it as "the remote"
It lost the "control" at some point in its existence.

Similar to "cell" or "mobile" for cellphone and mobile phone.

That's great! Although we usually speak English at home, we call it "die Macht"

@9 "It lost the "control" at some point in its existence"
What a euphemism!! You mean, you lost the control. That's why it comes in a box. If the box is ugly or just too big, tape the control to the remote and you'll (hopefully) never lose control again.
