Also sind die Wähler tatsächlich noch dümmer als die Kandidaten.
I'm not claiming that the voters are terribly smart, but the logical deduction there is flawed at best, IMO. American voters are rebelling more than anything. At least as far as the GOP is concerned, only Trump presents any alternative to the status quo at all, even as ridiculous as he may appear. Everyone else - Cruz, Rubio, and even the mild-mannered Kasich - represent a Washington that most Americans are very tired of. I remember when Barack Obama was first elected, and all the high hopes everyone had for changes in Washington, only to be bitterly disappointed that even a black man in the White House couldn't bring about any changes at all.
While there are a lot of people who feel that Obama "sold out," I think many also realize that the Washington machinery is more powerful than any one elected president, and the way Trump keeps talking, they may very well think that if anyone has a chance for changes, a loud, boisterous, I-don't-give-a-shit-what-you-people-think Trump could be the one. That, to me anyway, is the crux of this entire circus.
