Waterloo Station: Hauptbetonung auf dem 2. Wort. (#5)
This is often misunderstood by German native speakers. In English these two words have the same emphasis: WATERLOO STATION. This is known as “level stress”.
MILKY WAY (not MILKY way)
HERVEY BAY (in Queensland; not HERVEY bay, as a friend of mine annoyingly says)
Here’s something I’d never consciously noticed until I read about it in a grammar book: with street names, the words Lane, Road, Avenue, Way, Crescent, Court etc. all have a level stress, e.g. SELWYN COURT, MOONGA ROAD, MERRIWEE CRESCENT, TURNBULL AVENUE, while Street is the only one that is not emphasised, e.g. WARRA street.
