I just want to confirm something. I am translating something and here is the context: A 14-year-old girl (à la Greta Thunberg) is arguing with her parents. Her parents are pulling her up for showing some very nasty videos about how fish are caught in the ocean and killed to a 9-year-old. The mother is like, "Are you crazy, she's just nine." So, the girl responds with the following:

I just want to confirm if what the girl means is that "When I was nine, you were no longer filling me up with silly fairy stories about Santa coming down the chimney every Christmas eve. You both were more honest and had already told me that there is no Santa, where as that (9-year-old) girl's mother is kind of lying to her about how fish are tortured, simply because she wants her daughter to eat fish.

Did I understand this correctly?
