And as we boldly go through the 5000 mark I'm pleased to announce "we are still here" the long since forgotten alligators have eaten the sheep, our money tree has shown the first buds of 5 Euro notes (the larger denominations come later in summer) the jacuzzi is in severe need of a clean out (volunteers fore) and our intrepid postees fight through the worst elements of weather and work to continue posting in the manner to which we have become accustomed, And so dear readers, with a possible attendance of 6,641,114,625 people (world pop. as at 01.01.2008) read on...

One day this man was jumping up and down on a manhole cover screaming at the top of his lungs, "Seventeen! Seventeen!"
Intrigued by the man's insane behavior, another man walks over to him and asks why he is doing that. The first man responded, "It's a blast. You have to try it. Jump as high as you can and scream 'Seventeen!' as loud as humanly possible. You get such a rush. Try it."
Reluctantly, the second man gets on the manhole cover and barely hops and says, "Seventeen?" very timidly.
The first one says, "No, no, no. You're doing it wrong. Jump higher. Yell louder."
So, the second man begins jumping a little higher and speaking louder than normal. Finally he says, "Hey, you know, I am getting a little bit of a rush. Seventeen! Seventeen!"
The man jumps higher and higher, screaming louder and louder. The first man, once the second had jumped high enough, yanked the manhole cover out from under the second, causing him to fall down the manhole.
The first man replaced the cover and, once again, began jumping and screaming, "Eighteen! Eighteen!"

'ang on a minute (I'm a bit slow of thinking) is this the same Isi that was eating horse last week. A horse that was friendly with children, helped little old ladies across the street, took carless people shopping and was a general all round good horse until so. said "oooooo yes please with onion gravy and all the trimmings". Shame on you.

BTW, mykl, no nightshift... OWL ist karnevalistisch beschäftigt, nehm ich an ^^ und 4y seems to be very busy, too :(

Morning people a very happy friday to one and all. Isi, sorry, Waran Wawa doesn't appear on any of my walls or photos. The BE version of your Steppenwaran is much better. Hmmm, doesn't a bloody great big bolt fired from a hand held cannon do a little more than (PC correct) betäuben ? OWL is doing an awful lot of celebrating, does the New Year sort of overflow into the carneval season ?

    Huhu Wari,

No offense given and none taken, I hope, wari :)))

Good yawning everybody, a very pleasant monday morning. No Wari, it wasn't. I had an open mind about going out ubtil about 8 pm when I saw/heard the rubbish bins bouncing off cars as they were blown down the street. At that point I thought - nope it's not worth it, so I made a cup of tea and curled up on the couch with a book. On saturday however, there was Unnas version of carneval , it's all a bit "quaint" more like a school end-of-term show, but it's part of the cycle of life in Unna and I like to think I'm very much part of that.It helps that I get my invitation posted (from a friend in the Schwimmverein) and I hate to waste afree invitation.*chuckle* I think I#m the only carnevalisten with a certificate that states I don't have to "schunkeln" - well, there are limits.

    Guten Morgen,

wari, dann bin ich ja beruhigt =)

    Äh...

WAS SINN MACHT!!!

Wie, praktisch was machen? Wieso das denn? PRAXIS? Braucht doch koa Mensch.

Some (Gilbert and Zevit 2001) have suggested this story is an explanatory myth to explain the absence of a baculum in the male human, rather than a missing rib (in light of the fact that men and women have the same number of ribs)."

Wari, in all honesty if you can't there's sth. wrong somewhere, either lack of self confidence (and I'm talking generally, my workmates talk to my boss as if he were a minor god or sth) or the boss shouldn't be where he is. Communication needs to move in both directions if you're both going to get the best of the situation. I told mine (officially, 'cause he already knew) that I was no longer prepared to work any time outside by normal work times or standby duty, no more saturdays or evenings. It's the only way I can apply pressure to show that I'm unhappy (same wages since1999 !).It's not personal and there is legally no obligation to overtime, but now he knows and can plan around me.

Kinda true.. So, I'm lacking self confidence in that point, definitely.. But I think our relation has improved a lot lately..

And now, there will be no early shifts for you anymore? More money would be better, wouldn't it? Is your business not part of any Tarifvertrag? I mean..since 1999..that's 9 years..there should have been at least some "Anpassung an die Teuerungsrate"... ts-ts!

*chuckle* Early/late shift is the normal run of things, so no problems there. It's just when they wan't to do an extra weekend shift or like this weekend the programmers are coming again and one of us has to be here (with local knowledge of the system) to make sure when they say everything is ok everything is really ok. Of course we've got a tarif vertrag (and a workers council with 15 members), it's just that we keep hearing to save jobs in a competitive world with rising energy and material costs we have to reduce our prices, and the easiest way to save money is not to spend it (on the workers). It's not just here, Nokia and the Deutsche Bank are perfect examples that with ever rising profits the firms still want more and more and ...It's not a system that can carry on indefinatly, at some point the people need more money (the railway train drivers for example). There are (according to ZDF) over 1.5 million people in "Leihfirmen" that still need social help to live.Eventually the whole system will collapse when for 180 hours work you only go home with about 700 Euros to support your family.I've got a mortgage to pay as do millions of other people and it's getting very hard to make ends meet, but I'm still in the happy position to pay for my mortgage (after canceling all other costs like insurance and getting rid of my car). And at some point the fear of loss of job or losing the flat go (you can't maintain fear for ever without going a bit mad) and you come out the other side like a rabbit sitting in the middle of the motorway, you can see that at some point your going to get flattened, but we'll worry about that when it happens.*fg* There are worse places to work at than here, I like my job and at some stage in the future I may get a wage rise, but I don't expect one anymore.*sigh*
What a day of gloomy topics.

    I could deal with that.

Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid.

I could deal with that, too.

If you're a bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute cuddly cubs.

I could definitely deal with that.

If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too.

    I could deal with that.

If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat. He KNOWS not to get between you and the food.

    Yup..... Gonna be a bear."

So you go round and round and round
    another live another wound
from death to birth, from birth to death
No time to waste, no time to rest
So you go round and round and round
    another live another wound
and when you finally touch the light
they send you back into the night

I promised myself yesterday that the evening wouldn't be a "heavy" one. Well I lied. It was the best sort of evening, nothing planned, just a couple of beers and a bit of Blues music, then I met up with a load of people that I know and it was suddenly midnight. I did remember at some point that I wanted to leave at about 10pm, but that was unfortunatly after 4 beers and my will power wasn't up to the challenge ! :)
When the rest went on to another bar (I hate people who don't have to work on fridays) I dragged myself home and went to bed - shortly before 1 in the morning. :(
At quater to five this morning I was not feeling chipper or "BE & BT", but I'm just about back to my (ab)normal self now.
Who knows if reincarnation exists, you certainly wouldn't know about it yourself. Besides which how would all the hypnotists that take you back to your earlier lives, earn a livilng.

    Hi Wari,
    hey, danke :)))

[...]Typically an initial voltage of around 2,000 volts is applied for up to 15 seconds to attempt both to induce unconsciousness and to stop the heart. The voltage is then lowered to reduce current flow to approximately 8 amps. The body of the person may heat up to approximately 138 °F (59 °C), and the electric current will generally cause severe damage to internal organs.
In theory, unconsciousness occurs in a fraction of a second. [...]

*schauder*)

Because yesterday was a little frustrating I made a spontaneous decision to take the/a pretty way home, the sun was shining and it was good to be away from people and traffic.Later I was a bit annoyed with myself at taking/making this frivolous choice, later being about 3:30 when I came out of my "state" of well being, realised I was gasping for my after work cuppa and it was by then about 12 km back home again. Still it's a nice ride and almost flat (I usually do a tour at weekends if the weather's ok - like last weekend- and it got my happiness hormones working.Watched a family of buzzards playing hide and seek with a field of rabbits, the bunnies weren't very good though 'cause the buzzards kept finding them (and me without even a bit of wire for a snare)

A tourist walked into a pet shop and was looking at the animals on display. While he was there, another customer walked in and said to the shopkeeper, “I’ll have a C monkey please.”

The shopkeeper nodded, went over to a cage at the side of the shop and took out a monkey. He fit a collar and leash, and handed it to the customer, saying, “That’ll be £5,000 please”. The customer paid and walked out with his monkey.

Startled, the tourist went over to the shopkeeper and said, “That is a very expensive monkey. Why did it cost so much?”

The shopkeeper answered, “Ah, that monkey can program in C - very fast, tight code, no bugs, well worth the money.”

The tourist looked at the monkey in another cage. “That one’s even more expensive! £10,000! What does it do?”

“Oh, that one’s a C++ monkey; it can manage object-oriented programming, Visual C++, even some Java. All the really useful stuff,” said the shopkeeper.

The tourist looked around for a little longer and saw a third monkey in a cage of it’s own. The price tag around its neck read £50,000. He gasped to the shopkeeper, “That one costs more than all the others put together! What on earth does it do?”

The shopkeeper replied, “Well, I haven’t actually seen it do anything, but the other monkeys call him the project manager.”

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, "Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon."

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. "Good morning, Ma'am", he said, "I've come to..."

"Oh, no need to explain," Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, "I've been expecting you."

"Have you really?" said the photographer. "Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?"

"Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat".

After a moment she asked, blushing, "Well, where do we start?"

"Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there."

"Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!"

"Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results."

"My, that's a lot!", gasped Mrs. Smith.

"Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be In and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that."

"Don't I know it," said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. "This was done on the top of a bus," he said.

"Oh, my word!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

"And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with."

"She was difficult?" asked Mrs. Smith.

"Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look"

"Four and five deep?" said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yes", the photographer replied. "And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in."

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. "Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh...equipment?"

"It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away."

    "Tripod?"

"Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big to be held in the hand very long."
    Mrs. Smith fainted

And just to remain "on topic"

Mr. Jacobs, the biology instructor at a posh suburban girl's junior college, said during class, "Miss Arnold, would you please name the organ of the human body, which under the appropriate conditions, expands to six times its normal size, and define the conditions." Miss Arnold gasped, then said freezingly, "Mr. Jacobs, I don't think that is a proper question to ask me. I assure you my parents will hear of this." With that she sat down red-faced. Unperturbed, Mr. Jacobs called on Miss Jones and asked the same question. Miss Jones, with composure, replied, "The pupil of the eye, in dim light." "Correct," said Mr. Jacobs. "And now, Miss Arnold, I have three things to say to you. One, you have not studied your lesson. Two, you have a dirty mind. And three, you will someday be faced with a dreadful disappointment."

A vampire bat came flapping in from the night covered in fresh blood and parked himself on the roof of the cave to get some sleep.
Pretty soon all the other bats smelled the blood and began hassling him about where he got it.
He told them to go away and let him get some sleep but they persisted until finally he gave in.
"OK, follow me" he said and flew out of the cave with hundreds of bats behind him.
Down through the valley they went, across a river and into a forest full of trees.
Finally he slowed down and all the other bats excitedly milled around him.
"Now, do you see that tree over there?" he asked.
"Yes, Yes, Yes!" the bats all screamed in a frenzy.
"Good" said the bat, "Because I didn't!"

At that rate they are going to need 2 years to tell a 6 hour story ! I think I'll wait for the DVD of the series (if it hasn't already been released in the English speaking countries)
    :)
*chuckle*Ah, I saw one of your entries this morning, not everyone that access to LEO has access to google and the rest of the net (differing levely of security).Although I don't quite understand how or why.

I know that not everybody here has access to google, but he actually said " Über google finde ich jetzt auf die Schnelle nichts." How that? *wonder*

Heroes.. DVD has been released yet..in Germany Season 1.1 and 1.2 for EUR 23,95 each, £41.98(UK) or $41.99(USA) for complete season 1...
This split-up thing somehow keeps me from buying them..I'm actually really tempted to download them.. (though that might not be legal..doesn't it? ) Though the price is about the same.. in Europe..27,90(DE)/56,58(UK)/28,72(US..+taxes)

Just had a look in Amazon, strange, 1.1 & 1.2 (7 DVDs) cost 47 Euros in English/ german. The English import (just English) costs almost twice as much (82 Euros), how do they work that out then ?

    GOOD morning,
although, it's a shite morning, to be honest.
    Als erstes zickt mein Auto...

Versteht hier jemand was von Autos?

    ROFL!!!

On a visit to Britain, George Bush meets the Queen. While they are having a walk through the Gardens of Windsor Castle, George W. all of a sudden turns round and says: "Ya know, Ma’am, as I’m the President of the United States, I’m thinking of changing how my country is referred to, and I’m thinking that, like Britain, it should be a Kingdom, too."
The Queen raises an astonished eyebrow but replies politely: "I’m sorry Mr Bush, but to be a Kingdom, you have to have a King in charge - and you’re not a King."
George Bush thinks a while and then says: "How about a Principality then?"
To which the Queen replies "Again, to be a Principality you have to have a Prince in charge - and you’re not a Prince."
Bush thinks very long and very hard, and finally comes up with: "How ‘bout an Empire then?"
The Queen, getting a trifle annoyed by now, sweetly replies "Look, George, to be an Empire you must have an Emperor in charge - and you are most certainly not an Emperor."
Before George W. can utter another word, her Majesty adds: "I think you’re doing quite nicely as a Country…"

Yes, thank you, my car seems to be miraculously healed (touch wood), keinerlei Zicken heute. But it was completely covered in ice this morning, not simple frost, real, solid ice. It looked very pretty. But the roads werde icy as well. Not so pretty. And some parts of Munich are completely white, it must have been snowing quite heavily, and then there are parts where there isn't even a whiff of a snow-flake. Very strange.

So, mykl, looking forward to your Saturday Kneipen-Tour? TGIF? ^^

Oh yes yes yes, although it brings problems with it, 20 pubs, 20 groups playing, 3000 people "on tour", first we have to decide which groups we want to see (more than 3 or 4 aren't really practical). Then we have to decide in which order we'll visit (local knowledge is an advantage here*fg*)'cause some of the locations are tiny (the smallest has 18 sq. meters, the largest about 400) and lastly in which pubs are we well enough known to guarantee good service (answer: in most of them *g*).But we've sorted all that out now and all that remains are the plans b,c,d, usw. as we discover our tour has to be changed 'cause of overfilling or whatever. It's always a good night out whatever happens, street vendors "pop up" to sell Bratwursts, hot chesnuts and all sorts of things to the people as they swap locations and impromptu parties have been known to start on the market square - in snow - and at midnight. What started out as sth. to boost the pubs income in what is tradionally a quiet month (some pubs make more turnover on this one night as in the rest of february) with the first "Blue night" only having 8 locations, is now a major event in Unna with 20 pubs/cafes and the town church (they usually have an accoustic group - unplugged),*sigh* I love this town, live music at least twice a week and special events till they're coming out of your ears.

Good morning, a very happy wednesday to one and all. Boah eh! What a super way to work today, the sky was all different shades of red and crimson. The horizon looked as if it was on fire (maybe it was Bielefeld*fg*)

    Morning!

From your point of view, Bielefeld is in the west, Wari. From mykl's it's in the east (more or less).
But I am sorry you two, there's no fire here.

Hi Mafi & Wari, I think Bielefeld is south of Wari, but we could always try setting it on fire for real and she can report appropriatly *fg* Damn, how can I burn sth. that doesn't exist !

Wari, looking at the map I doubt that Butjadingen is a large enough community to even have street lights, let alone glow in the morning *fg*

Seems to be quite difficult to be a man nowadays.. You should have a good career, a lot of money, lot of time for wife and family, be a good father, sensitive but strong, intelligent, good looking, a stallion in bed.. And we're still talking about just one man. ;)

So, lunchtime now.. Going to get a nice Birthday present for hubby..

    halbkörperlang..no complaints about that.. *fg*

Must look good in tuxedo, speedo and working dress. Sits while he pisses (except outside the house). Is a Macho, but a Softie. Sporty, fit, healthy, political correct (at least outside the house, too).. Knows how to cook, how to carve a goose, lit a cigar, drive a yacht/sportscar/motorbike/tractor.
