    Live one's life - phrases

    Comment
    (1) She can live her life the way she wants to.
    (2) She can live her life the way she wants.
    (3) She can live her life how she wants (to).
    (4) She can live her life the way she likes.
    (5) She can live her life how she likes.
    (6) She can live her life the way she likes it.
    (7) She can live her life the way she likes to.

Which of the above sentences are acceptable? Personally, I feel that the first one sounds best, but what about the use of "how" and "like" in this phrase. Possible or not?

Thank you very much in advance.

All of them are "acceptable," some more so than others. :-)

To me the ones with 'how' sound much less standard; some native speakers might say that, but the same speakers might also use 'ain't' and double negatives. I would say 'however' there instead.

    6 & 7 sound the least idiomatic, especially 6.

There's a difference in meaning -- 'the way she wants/likes' suggests she has a particular lifestyle in mind, but 'however she wants/likes' means in any way.

I'd also say 'likes' is a bit more polite or refined than 'wants,' which is more casual and everyday.
