Kimmy and I had ourselves an adventure on Saturday. Had visited my mother from Wednesday-Friday. I'm not officially allowed to purchase anything at the PX/Commissary, but go ahead a pile things into my mother's cart. Got carried away and came back Friday with about 15 heavy bags of stuff - so decided to carry them up on Saturday, as it was pouring rain. Went shopping, got the first load up, unpacked and stored, put on coffee and went to get the second load. The main part of my apartment is on the first floor/second storey (I think that's BE:-)) and my office on the second. So, lugged the second load upstairs, opened door, Kimmy escaped upstairs. Went down for the third load, got it as far as the stairs, when out shot the cat. OK, made a dive for her, missed, she's off racing to the garden, wind comes up, door blows closed, keys upstairs, neighbors gone. Spare key 70 kms down the road with my son. Thank GOD for cell phones, which I never really wanted, but had fortunately stuck in my coat pocket - called daughter about 15 minutes later, and her neighbor the "Schreiner" came to the rescue. After trying to break-in, he finally took the "Waschküche" door off its hook, and I gained access to house, but had lost sight of Kimmy. Had a cig and coffee first, called cat, no response. Called again, could hear her, she had jumped into a "Kellerschacht? cellar chute??" thingy - one of those that is covered with a grid. THis one was extremely deep and I couldn't reach her. Tried hauling her up, using my shawl as a sling - that didn't work. Then went on the search for something to use as a "ladder", when all of a sudden, there she came high-tailing it across the lawn - wheeewwwww !!!
