    Die Bundesautobahn 57 (Abkürzung: BAB 57) – Kurzform: Autobahn 57 (Abkürzung: A 57) – verläuft von der niederländischen Grenze bei Goch in Weiterführung der A 77 (NL) parallel zum Rhein über den linken Niederrhein, Krefeld und Neuss nach Köln.     easy, Will have to ask my mother for that recipe, because I don't think I have it - AND, it's very difficult to get the ingredients here in Germany - not to mention the proper cake pans, it's THREE layers!! And our cake pans don't match German ones. Now I wonder what happen to my 3 cake pans - because I did make the German Chocolate one - ohhhh I think I borrowed my mother's pans :-))

    easy, Will listen to your links later :-)) My mother said she would gladly give you a copy of the recipe, BUT it's hand-written, grease-splochted and she's added her own notes over the years + the ingredients aren't to be found here in Germany - maybe through your "U.K. connection" :-)) Will next be going to visit on her birthday - well, actually the day after, as that's when she'll be celebrating - October 18th.

    I probably do not know as many vets as you do, easy, but I like most of them. I was interviewed by the chief and his deputy (Prof. Baumgärtner and Prof. Löscher) and they were both very nice. They do actually need a biologist for that position and though it's not paid well (like a BTA), it's 10 minutes from home by car (=9,8km). And it is really an interesting job. As they did get that much money for their project ( see here ), they need someone to coordinate all the parts of the project. And that would be me..

    Nee, Emil, das nicht, aber es ist gut 50-60 Jahre Alt :-) Mein Schwiegervater hat "Sütterlin" geschrieben - und wenn er bsw. zur Kur fuhr, uns eine Postkarte schickte, mußten wir zu späteren Schwiegermutter meiner Schwester fahren, damit sie es uns vorlesen konnte :-))

    Emil, Danke für den neuen Ausfresser-Faden! ;-) - Ich bin zwar eher "nebenan" bei den Zählern unterwegs, lese hier aber meist mit... Naja, momentan wirklich NUR "meist"... (zu beschäftigt... *seufz* ehrlich!)

Dabei sah ich beim Morgenspaziergang eine junge Mini-Echse (ca. 3 cm Länge); am Nachmittag noch mal ein etwa dreimal so großes Exemplar... Rein aus Neugier: Zufall? Oder versuchten die Viecher noch mal "Sonne zu tanken"?

    Carly: der Red Velvet-Kuchen sieht sehr "beerig" aus! Enthält er wirklich viele Beeren, oder kommt die Farbe woanders her? (flüster) Was muss ich tun, um das Rezept zu kriegen? (/flüster)

    *treuherzigenBlickaufsetz* Falls jemand von euch Nuss- oder Mandel-Mürbeteigkuchen mag... Eher trocken, aber eben nicht durchgehend trocken, sondern mit "saftiger" Füllung... Ich LIEBE Haselnuss- bzw. Mandelkranz... Besonders gut ist er, wenn er einen Tag geruht hat... Aber EUCH schmeckt der bestimmt nicht!! *gg* *besorgniserregendSABBER*

    Das Rezept ist wirklich SUPER-einfach... Btw.: Ich habe es (noch) nicht mit Kokos probiert, aber auch das sollte eigentlich problemlos funktionieren...

    57 ist die Ordnungszahl von Lanthan (englisch Lanthanium), das u.a. für Nickel-Metall-Akkus in Hybridautos verwendet wird. Für einen Toyota Prius braucht man 10 - 15 Kilogramm davon.

    Wollte ich nur loswerden. Danke Wikipedia.

    Hi Igelin!! Nee, Beeren enthält Red Velvet nicht - die rote Farbe wird mit "food colors" bewerkstelligt: http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://.... Habe ich hier aber auch noch nie gesehen, außer als "Zuckerguß-Stifte" - ich besuche demnächst meine Mutter, wird sie abschreiben, einscannen, versenden :-)) Igelin, es gibt kaum etwas in Richtung "Süßes", daß ich nicht mag - außer Mohnkuchen :-))

    Ich habe keine Ahnung von Autos. Weshalb sind es 10-15 kg? Werden da unterschiedlich große Akkus eingebaut, und hat das etwas mit Reichweite, PS, Geschwindigkeit zu tun?

    Ich werde nicht verraten, was ich heute (gestern) Nachmittag gemacht habe, aber ich war draußen in der Sonne, und morgen wird's wohl einen Muskelkater geben.

    Ich hab mal einen Dartboardkuchen gemacht, ätzend viel Arbeit, sehr bunt, saumäßig lecker :)

    Igelin, wenns was einheimisches war, dann wird das wohl so sein, dss die jetzt nochmal versuchen, so warm wie möglich zu werden, bevors in den Winter geht. Wenns nix einheimisches war, hatten die armen Viecher vermutlich Panik vor der großen bösen kalten Welt und wollten in ihren warmen Glaskasten zurück ;o)

    Ich kannte mal ne Augenärztin mit nem Doppelnamen, aber der Erstname war Späh.

Mehl bekommen :-)) Ich dachte, sie wollten sich diese Woche noch melden...na ja, vielleicht haben auch sie die Sonne einfach genießen wollen :-) Mache morgen wieder "dog-sitter", denn "Mama und Papa" müßen zum Reitturnier-Dienst - ich wollte eigentlich auch hin, aber die spannende Prüfungen finden Sonntag statt...ist aber kein großes Opfer, denn Twix ist sowas von süß, und sie haben eine herrliches Balkon, und ich kann mit gutem Gewissen einfach faulenzen - vorausgesetzt er schafft's bis zum Garten :-))

    Hi people, I'm home *waves* (sort of). I got back from England last sunday, but departed straight away again to go visiting :). I've still got holiday until the 28th, but I'm going to an NRW Stammtisch in Duzzly Dorf next friday so I've still got sth to look forward to. Isi I hope you haven't done any serious damage, I've fallen twice from ladders in my life both within 6 weeks of each other, both from around 5 meters, both landed on my ar*e, both into the same hospital, both on the same station and both times in the same bed, :) talk about deja vu. *laugh*

    HIIIIIIIIIIII mykl!! And welcome back! Did you have half-way decent weather??
    I never had any trouble with falling off ladders, and have climbed quite a few in my life - BUT, out of the clear blue sky, I developed a fear of heights over night - but it only overcomes me if I can see "space" below me, as with a ladder, or walking over a slatted bridge, or at the top of a skyscraper and look down....hard to explain :-))
    Spent six hours dog-sitting today - and am worn out - he did NOT sleep his way through the day, as he did the last time - NOOO, and neither did he follow me from the garden to the front door and come inside (only about 3 m from G to D) - nope, before I could react, he took off through the underbrush into neighbor's garden. All the "back yards" on this street head straight up a "mountain," are huge, and are skirted by a forest - it's not called the "Hessische Schweiz" for nothing :-)) Try and "capture" a 13-week-old Irish Wolfhound who's grown so much he's already up to your thigh, and who doesn't want to be caught :-))

    Hi easy! Got all side-tracked today, and didn't post, 'cause no one was around :-)) Also, was recuperating from "wrassling" with an extremely strong, stubborn, adorable puppy, who has grown so fast, that his back is already up to my mid-thigh :-) I've nick-named him "Sturkopf" or "Sturrie" for short :-) Told my daughter and son-in-law that at his very next Hundeschule lesson, the teacher MUST take up the subject of how puppies are to respond to "Komm" - nooo, you don't take off to the neighbor's garden, and NOOOO you do NOT flop down and refuse to budge, nor do you "dig in" and calmly ignore "Komm" - all the while looking at a person with great big brown innocent eyes :-)

    Igelin, der Unterschied ist/war, daß ich ein auf Stur geschaltetes Kind einfach aufheben konnte :-))

    edit on: My mother's going to have my sister make numerous copies of the Red Velvet recipe - BUT she told me to state yet again, that it is nigh impossible to find food coloring here in Germany - and she's having trouble even getting it at the commissary now - they've quit selling it in bottles, and the last time she had to resort to the tiny vials sold for Easter-egg dye - she said that cost her TEN dollars just getting enough for one cake. My niece flies out to the States this Friday, with strict orders to bring back several bottles of food coloring :-))

    Hi mykl, Well, look on the bright side of things this foggy morn - you've got a SINGLE cupboard - and I have to do an unexpected mid-week full clean, because my first "Nachhilfeschülerin" is coming (together with her mother) on Wednesday, rather than Friday :-)) I usually do all that stuff over the weekend, but was otherwise "employed" :-))

    Hi Carly, *waves* do you mean a singles cupboard ? I've got 3 unterschränke, two hängeschränke (up to the cieling) and a drawer. Not a lot, true, I'm just washing up all the cutlery and crockery that I've cleared out (some stuff got thrown out). I usually 'clean' on sundays, but clearing out the kitchen is a thing I don't do oft. Judging by the 'grease rings' under some of the stuff it is long overdue. *gg* *back to kitchen sink*

She doesn't know or tell us anything I didn't know before or could find out easily on the internet.. At least, it's just 4 hrs every day..til this Friday..looking forward to that..
    Afternoons are kind of full, too..Garden, dogs, home work.. writing applications..But still hoping on that one..It would be awesome to work there.. Keep your fingers crossed!

    Well, break is over, she's back, trying to teach me some.. Well, I'll keep smiling and pretend I'm really insterested..At least, that's something I learned at the university..

    My day started off with a quite literal BANG - my heavy glass container, which holds my coffee, slipped from hands to land on foot - naturally I had just filled it up yesterday, and of course it shattered into a thousands shards all over my freshly washed kitchen floor :-)) At least Kimmy was to engrossed in breakfasting, and wasn't hit by flying glass :-))

    Ich vermute, hinter solchen Anzeigen steckt wohl eher irgendein Betrugsmanöver, und

    Today, they really should call me, for they said "We'll decide until the end of next week". That is now, then.. I'm pretty excited though I know I shouldn't be. Dreamt a dozen times about it this night..Well..I never got the job in my dreams.. I'll take that as a good omen. I really DO hope there's a mesage on my answering machine when I come home, telling me I can start there next Thursday.. I know I shouldn't set my hopes too high..but it's really one of the jobs I applied for and would actually love to get!

    Emil, Take That hat mich auch nicht sehr interessiert :-) Aber manche Texte von RW finde ich sehr gelungen - Beispiel: I'm contemplating, thinking about thinking. It's over-rated, just get another drink and watch me come undone :-)) Das mit der Schatzfund habe ich gestern im Radio gehört - Archaeologie finde ich fazinierend - bin damit mehr oder weniger groß geworden, denn meine Mutter hatte angefangen, es zu studieren, aber änderte ihre Richtung weil sie in Biologie eine lebende Katze sezieren sollte, konnte es nicht und bekam ein "F = 6"...aber es blieb ihr Steckepferd :-) Wir haben desöfteren Familien-Ausflüge damit verbracht, leerstehende (alte) Häuser zu durchstöbern :-)) In Deutschland aber nur einmal und zwar hier: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_Lilly

    Gehörte früher Anhauser Busch (beer), wurde vom Land Hessen gekauft und renoviert, um als Entzugklinik für Jugendliche zu dienen. Wir sind im Hauptgebäude "eingebrochen" - ich schrieb als 12-jährige darauf hin Herr Busch an, erzählte was sie aus seinem Elternhaus machen wollte und bekam ein in Leder gebundenes Geschichtsbuch über deren Familie zugesandt, samt handgeschriebenes Brief :-))

    Wari, Guess they haven't yet called - but it's Friday and people often leave work early...

    I heard from the company, they were going to send me the files, which never arrived - called a couple of times shortly before and after 15:00 - no one answered the phone, sooooo...however, my gut feeling says this one will lead to (many??) more - the woman in charge mentioned other depts. often needed things translated - and how nice it would be to have someone right down the road. Just now googled milling machines, and hit upon this tidbit from an American website - cracked me up:

    Schön isses - wenn ich nur wählen dürfte...aber dieses Mal wüßte ich echt nicht, wo ich mein "Kreuzchen" machen sollte. Höre gerade in den Nachrichten, daß Roman Polanski bei Einreise in der Schweiz verhaftet worden ist - er sollte heute Abend ein Preis für sein Lebenswerk erhalten, ist aber 1978 aus der Psychiatrie dort geflohen, wo er wegen sexuellen Mißbrauchs eine Minderjährige (eingestanden) zur Beobachtung ansaß.

    Fragte vorhin mein Sohn, ob er heute Wählen ginge (das letzte Mal tat er es nicht, und bekam von mir ein Standpredigt) - nöööö, wir haben versehntlich unsere Wahlbenachrichtigungen in den Altpapier entsorgt - da mußte er wieder Mamas Redeschwall über sich ergehen lassen.

    Ihr könnt mein "draft sentence" bitte verfeinern :-))

    Ja, auch das mußte er sich anhören - man kann bestimmt auch OHNE wählen gehen, sofern man sein Ausweis dabei hat. Emil, es gibt/gab so eine an der Wahl angelehnter LEO-Faden (aber Politik ist eigentlich im LEOLand "verboten" :-)) Ich find's aber auf Anhieb nicht. Da ich selbst im Leben nie wählen dürfte, habe ich gezielt versucht meine Kinder für Politik zu interessieren - bei meiner Tochter hat es geklappt, aber mit etwas seltsame Früchte - Gewerkschaftsmitglied und gleichzeitig Parteibuch großes "C" :-)) Doch - einmal dürfte ich wählen - und zwar für's Auslandbeirat in ESW, und gewählt habe ich!! Mich ärgert es, daß ich nicht in den USA wählen darf, obwohl jetzt alles übers Internet läuft, weil ich keine Adresse dort habe...grrrrrrrrrr

    Gestern hörte ich, daß evtl. erst gegen Mitternacht echte Ergebnisse da sein könnten, wegen Überhangsmandaten (die aus meiner Sicht sofort rückwirkend aufgebhoben werden müßten, da das ganze (Reigierung) ins "unendliche" aufgebläßt wird).

    Ja, daisy, wenn ich mich aufregen, kann ich kein Deutsch mehr :-))

    Emil, die Prognosen höre ich mir auf JEDEN Fall an!! Dann ab 20:15 mit Heizkissen im Rücken, Navy CIS und Criminal Minds anschauen, und in den Pausen auf ARD ggf. ZDF schalten :-))

    Merkel hatte gestern in etwa "Es MUß mehr Netto von Brutto geben, es kann nicht angehen, daß der Staat bei jeder Gehaltserhöhung/Urlaubsgeld, usw. gleich alles für sich beansprucht". Da würde ich am liebsten ihr schreiben, sie möge mir bitte die 13.000 Euro die der Staat mit ihrem Gesetz von 2005 (Abfindungen voll zu versteuern) für sich unter die Nägel gerissen hat - ich könnte es momentan sehr viel eher gebrauchen, als Ackerman & Co.!!! Da hatte die Große Koalition für die damalige Krise (deutsch Fa. lagern Arbeitsplätze aus) auch "Lösungen" - wir wurden aber nicht gerettet - neeeee - Massentlassungen = Massenabfindungen = "Wir zeigen unsere Anteilnahme, in dem wir "unser" Anteil nehmen"

    Emil, die stammt von mir, als ich mit 13.000 "dabei" war :-)) Gerade gehört - 20 Überhangsmandate, sieht nach CDU + FDP (15%). Müßte ich vielleicht doch die Angie schreiben, auch wenn ich knapp 4.000 bei der Steuererklärung davon zurück bekommen habe. Ich weiß noch, wo Weihnachtsgeld und Urlaubsgeld Brutto = Netto war!!

    mykl, I wonder why companies don't do a "revolutionary" thing, such as firing one or two of the abundant VPs - maintaining those who actually DO the work!!

    Thanks, Emil :-))) When she handed me the brochure yesterday, I started leafing through it - got to the last page (only about 8, total) and "The results are self explaining" jumped out at me. The next sentence had „Product“ which is correct in German - I had pointed out these errors, before I could bite off my tongue :-))

    Well, Carly.. let's say about 80% of my hair are straight (though all of them tend to curl for a while after washing them..) and the other 20% wish they where curls.. So I end up with most of it in a braid and the rest scurrying around it :)

    Today, my first ALG arrived..and "Fahrgeld" for the "Bewerbungstraining"..19,60€.. Well, that's better than nothing.. And worth two German or three English paperbacks :)

    Hubby's gone for a hunting trip until Saturday evening..we girls stay at home for the Dackel has a test tomorrow.. (Perhaps I'm getting addicted to her having to do tests?)
    I'm gonna collect my photos this morning.. on Saturday's my best friends birthday..Nice date, innit?

    Thanks, all...though am about ready to give up on the 77-page thingy...it has to be translated using CorelDraw - what a HORRIBLE program, yuck, double yuck - also umständlicher geht's echt NICHT! Am using a test version of the product, but there is NO WAY IN H*** that I would ever spend 639 euros to purchase a license - no way :-)))

    Carli, was hat das denn mit CorelDraw auf sich? Das ist doch ein Graphik-Programm, oder?

    Der Elch soll nächste Woche untersucht werden - da bin ich auch gespannt.
    Immerhin, keine Woche nachdem er tierärztlich behandelt wurde, liegt er tot im Wald.
    Da fragt man sich schon, ob da nur Experten am Werke waren. Einer sagte, er sei ein Jahr alt, andere sprachen von zwei oder drei ... alles Experten.
    Und dann ist er ja auch noch besendert worden (ich habe jetzt keine Zeit für einen Neuen Eintrag)!
    Na, wenigstens kann er jetzt den Verkehr nicht mehr stören.

    LOLOLOLOL - Das gefällt mir, Emil :-)) Zehn Jahre haben vermutlich noch nicht mal gereicht - du mußtest doch Dein Kind bei der Geburt zur Fahrschule bereits anmelden + Antrag auf Auto :-) Ich frage mich, wenn sie wirklich "die Klimawandel" verhindern wollen (woran ich eh nicht glaube, ahh an der Klimawandel), dann müßte sofort und auf der Stelle, Formel 1 und alle Rennen verboten werden - auch ein Gipfel hier und ein Gipfel da. Ein Zaun für 90 Millionen für 3 Tage aufbauen in einer Naturschutzgebiet. Die dicksten Autos fahren.

    Emil, die hatten nur ein pdf Datei - da sollte ich es mit CorelDraw bearbeiten, damit die ganze Formattierung, Abbildungen, usw. bestehen bleiben - ich werde noch WAHNSINNIG mit dem Programm. Du kannst nicht das gesamte Datei aufmachen, sondern nur seitenweise, weil der ganze Datei soviel Arbeitsspeicherplatz wegnimmt - funktioniert NIX. Dann kann ich nicht ein Absatz kopieren und einfügen - neeee - jedes einzelne WORT und auch Bindestriche ist in ihrem eigenen Textbox "gefangen" - ich muß sie nach und nach weglöschen, um meine Übersetzungen Stück für Stück reinzustellen - aber ich habe jetzt, glaube ich, eine Überlistungsmöglichkeit gefunden, die wenigstens teilweise angewendet werden kann.

    Ich glaube nicht, daß sie uns tatsächlich sagen werden, woran knutschi gestorben ist.

    Und wenn ich die Beiträge so lese, ist es vermutlich eine Auszeichnung, wenn Deiner zensiert worden ist.
    Hier in LEO werden ja nicht die Nummern zusammen mit den Inhalten gelöscht, so dass man erkennen kann, wenn es einen Eingriff gegeben hat, und das finde ich reell. Dein PS ist jetzt #171, also sind wohl noch mehr Beiträge verschwunden.
    Aber lohnt es sich wirklich, sich da ins Getümmel zu stürzen?

    In der Zeitung stand, dass das Ergebnis der Leichenschau erst Ende nächster Woche kommen soll. Man arbeitet langsam in Gießen ... aber hoffentlich gründlich.

    The very worst part of this translation is CorelDraw - I will never ever again except anything that is based on this nightmare program - NEVER...it took me a good 5 minutes just to add one sentence, because you had to delete each and every hyphen, character, ect. separately.

    Wari, The company had the German Betriebsanleitung put together by a "Fremdfirma" who delivered in pdf - they would have had to pay much more for a copy in Word format, too. I have Adobe Reader, but not Writer (which is also not the most effective software for working in pdfs). Their IT dept. "solved" the problem by using CorelDraw....

    Also einen Text mit CoreDraw bearbeiten zu müssen ist ja wohl nicht ernst gemeint von der Firma. Warum nicht mal folgendes Programm probieren?

    Es gibt sogar eine 6 monatige kostenlose Lizenz. Evtl. kann man damit viel einfacher arbeiten. Ich benutze bisher nur den kostenlosen PDF Reader von Foxit und der ist gut.

    Hi Emil! Kalt und trüb hier auch, obwohl hin und wieder scheint die Sonne für 3-4 Sekunden.

    Mafi, Reader habe ich, aber kein Writer - und die englische Version soll sämtliche Formattierungen/Bilder/Graphiken, usw. vorweisen. Es ist einfach ZUM KOTZEN - entschuldige, aber ich habe gerade 4 Minute gebraucht, um ein Satz reinzubringen, weil "hundert" Zeichen in ihrem jeweiligen "Einzel-Textbox" saßen.

    Ich selbst kenne aber eben nur den Reader von denen, ich habe den Editor noch nicht gebraucht. Theoretisch sollte er aber eine Anleitung im PDF Format bearbeiten können, mit allen Grafiken etc.

    Deine Großbuchstaben kann ich Dir so richtig nachfühlen.
    Aber vielleicht solltest Du doch einen anderen Weg einschlagen.

    Edith sagt, Du hast schon fast die Hälfte ... da fällt es schon schwerer umzusteigen.
    Überschlage doch einmal den Zeitaufwand für beide Möglichkeiten bei einer Tasse Tee.

    'Knutschi' ist ein junger Elchbulle, der über Thüringen nach Nordhessen gewandert ist, dann der A7 gefährlich nahe kam, mit dem Betäubungsgewehr 'erlegt' und in den Reinhardswald verfrachtet wurde.

    Ja, aber sie hatten schon überlegt, ihn ein Weibchen "zuzuteilen".

    I seldom fall victim to envy, BUT my niece is in CA and on her way to the redwoods - I wanted to go soooooooooooo badly when we lived there, but it was 3,000 miles up the coast, and my parents couldn't afford it, back then. AND, my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter will be leaving for a week in the "Bretagne"...right on the coast, and right down the road from my former (French) fiancé (wellll, we said we were engaged way back when in 1973-1975 :-)) It was just too hard keeping the relationship going when he lived in Paris, and I in Germany...but they might stop by and say hello :-))

    Moin! Just got back from visiting the milling machine company...she said (after all my complaining:-)) that if it was easier for me, do the text parts in Word and she'd insert into CorelDraw - the purchasing dept. needn't know :-)

    Not only is my niece in the Redwoods, BUT her friend whom she is visiting, is doing an internship at a touristry company - this company provided them with a 400-dollar-per-night suite in a luxury hotel for FREE!! And, it snowed...so much for global warming :-))

    Ich habe CorelDraw, aber nur bis zum 16.10 :-)) - will erstmal versuchen, ob es mit der Einfügung von einzelne bereits in "Englisch" übersetzte Seiten funktioniert - da bräuchte ich "nur" das Englisch korrigieren...wenn es so funktioniert, wie ich mir das vorstelle - schöner Nachricht war auch, daß sie von den nächsten Übersetzungen sprach, die alle in Word wären - die NÄCHSTEN, JAAAA :-)

    Second walk was in the sunshine..but my beautifully built stack of firewood broke down in the thunderstorm tonight..And I've not even gotten over the sore muscles from building it..

    Welcome back, mykl!! Glad to hear you're feeling better!!

    I had an absolutely "wonderful" start to my day - pouring rain, high winds and since I had an appointment with the milling machine company at 10 a.m., wanted to arrive "frizz-free" - was just about ready to bite into a Brötchen, when I heard "Achtung, Achtung - wichtige Meldung. Wege ein Wasserrohrbruch, stellen wir das Wasser bis ca. 13:00 ab." Dropped Brötchen, rushed to get my teeth brushed and fill measuring cups with water for coffee later. Got to company, only to find she had called in sick and won't be back till Wednesday, at the earliest (due date). Sorry to hear she's sick, naturally, but my CorelDraw license expires on the 16th - but, at least the due date has been extended. Back to the draw board. I cannot WAIT for a CorelDraw salesman/woman to contact me and ask whether I would like to purchase their product LOL!!

    Four o'clock and STILL NO WATER...but, a new "Auftrag" on the exciting subject of "Schalldämpfer" ...and NO, not for a gun :-) The customer called to ask whether I hadn't received his new job, which I hadn't. Due Wednesday, and I said I "love" to do it, but he hadn't yet paid my bill from Sept. 3rd, nor replied to my reminder....ohhh, he'd get onto that right away :-)))

    edit on: FINALLY! Got my water back, though you wouldn't want to drink it yet, bright red as it may be, not at all appetising - thank goodness, I had filled up enough containers for coffee water this morning!!
    And, I've out-smarted CorelDraw :-)) Still not very efficient, but better than the past couple of days...weeks. I'm at least making some progress, and my tears have dried up.

    One boss leaning over your shoulder is bad enough, but a crowd of them would be a nightmare.

    My son was here from Saturday to Sunday - Kimmy-cat has put on quite a bit of "knobby" weight in her hindquarters. And though she's been neutered, he kept teasing me about her being pregnant - me: can't be, she's been sterilized. He: Yeah, but just like with humans, could go wrong - me, noooo way - back and forth. Sooooo, gave easy a call :.-))

    mykl, Neither am I - BUT...I wanted an Internet access about the moment it came onto the market - was fascinated by such things as e-mail service, research possibilities, ect. Had it at work, and the very first site I bookmarked, was LEO :-)) Good mother that I am, I waited until both my children were "of age" before I got connected at home - also got robbed blind by my first provider, because I failed to read the small print, and had supposedly signed up for "Open Office" or something - they were REAL smart, didn't bill me for the first 3 months -and THEN - over 1800 DMs, most of which was for said "service"!! Back then, you paid by the MINUTE!!! Well, I got that money back and more, because somewhere along the line, my third? provider had a bunch of updating, forgot about my account in the sense of charging me for it, and I surfed for free for almost 2 years LOL!!

    Moin, All! Yep, I overdosed on asteriks yesterday - and will continue to do so, today :-)) I thought CorelDraw was a girl's worst nightmare, but they sent me another one to do, and sent it in XML format - telling me to "just" translate the stuff located in between all the XML commands - 280 lines spread over and in between 38 pages of commands, asteriks, punctuation marks, ect. Told them that I was sorry as I could be, but that it would take me months to locate text to be translated, and the risk was great, that I might overlook something, or unwittingly delete a command....sorry, but no :-))

    Am getting my winter tires mounted, tomorrow - had hoped to get home for my Mommy's birthday, but have too many translations still to do, and all due on the 20th. Got offered another instruction manual from the one company who hadn't yet paid my bill (they supposedly never got it). This is a translating agency, and "offered" me about 55 cents per line(at the most), counting from the GERMAN text (which is always about 20% shorter, because up to 5 words combined in one)- amounting to about 400-500 euros for over 40 pages - no way.

    Hi, All!!! Wish I could be out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather, but am virtually tied to my desk.
    Emil, als ich früher noch mit der Bahn zwischen hier und GÖ gependelt bin, habe ich 2 x jährlich der "Kranich-Schauspiel" in den Felder erleben können. Herrlich! Und als ich noch im Tal weilte, wohnte ich in den Flugbahn von den Wildgänsen - leider sehe ich (oder besser gesagt, höre) ich sie nicht mehr.

    Wari, I only saw "Marion's Kochbuch" under your link - she's the one who has been suing all and sundry for "stealing" her online pictures (that she first collected from all the members of her club). Charging them outrageous sums of money for a picture of an apple, for example. I think she has about 400 court cases outstanding.     I managed the car alright, apart from the gearbox which is still the same way round as a European car. That means that 5th and 6th gears were next to my leg instead of 1st and 2nd. *sigh and shakes head* You wouldn' believe how often I tried pulling away from traffic lights in 5th gear :=(... 99% of the time :=(

    Well, I've never driven on the wrong side before.. But in AUS, it was terribly hard to get used to it, even in a cab.. Worst of all are the round-abouts.. Somehow, one is so used on going them clockwise, that I nearly fell off my seat when the cab turned counter-clockwise..
    I think I can do the gearbox thing, for I often shift gears for hubby when he's on the phone..

    Depends on how dark the barn is... Ah, have just read the article. We-ell. Just because some people have always done what they are doing doesn't make it right. Keeping an animal in virtually complete darkness for half of the year, or even for a month, is absolutely intolerable, unless it's a naked mole rat. If you cannot keep animals in such a way that a certain small degree of "welfare standard" is ensured, you mustn't keep them. As simple as that. Nothing else to say. Sorry.

    Lucky you, Emil! Außergewöhnliche "Flugobjekte" habe ich nicht gesehen, aber nach fast 2 Wochen am Schreibtisch gekettet zu sein, war's herrlich. Vor drei Tagen wurde ich gebeten, ein Angebot für eine weitere Bedienungsanleitung (aber Anfrage kam von eine Übersetzungsbüro, für den ich bisher nur Kleinigkeiten erledigt habe). Ich nannte mein SEHR günstigen Zeilenpreis, aber er meinte - das sei zu viel, ich möge doch die Datei anschauen, und nochmals "bieten." Er meldete sich gestern und fragte nach mein Angebot - ich nannte ihn den gleichen Preis, er meinte er hätte eine Engländerin (betont), die 20 Cent die Zeile weniger nehmen würde. Ich war SOOOO stolz auf mich, als ich mit "Nun, dann fragen Sie doch sie" antwortete. Ach ja, aber sie ist so unfreundlich und nervt, und ruft dauernd an, und ist auch nicht sehr gut in Technik. Ich: Nun, Qualität hat sein Preis - und quasi Umsonst arbeiten kann ich nicht. :-))

    Moin! Boy did I have some early-morning excitement - was in the kitchen drinking coffee, reading a book, when I heard an odd sound coming from the living room. Had barely taken note of the commotion, when this: http://www.dagi-lehmann.de/gifs/meise.jpg flew into my kitchen, landing on the windowsill. His/Her baby looking in from the other side. Cleared the windowsill, opened window, tried to coax it out, but...to make a long story short, after several rescue attempts, it flew to the top of my (built-in) kitchen cabinet, got stuck in the "safety space" between cabinet and wall, I had the great idea of opening bottom drawer - it eventually flew out from drawer, onto windowsill, hid behind my Alpenweilchen, re-opened window and managed to shew it back outside to freedom - it even perched on my finger for a split second :-)

    Ich habe so das Gefühl, dass es allmählich kälter wird.
    Heizt schon jemand?

    An diesem Rechner habe ich immer noch, aber immer nur bei diesem Faden, den Ärger mit der Sendetaste weit rechts außen.
    Also schreibt ihn 'mal voll, damit wir bald einen neuen Faden anfangen können.
    Dieser wurde am 15. September gestartet, das sind morgen fünf Wochen!

    Hi, Emil!! Ja, LEIDER muß ich wegen dieser "globales Erwärmen" bereits heizen - sonst würde ich am PC/Stuhl/Couch festfrieren. Die Heizung anschmeisen hätte ich bereits Ende August/Anfang September tun können, aber schottische Vorfahren :-))

    Heize seit letzter Woche zumindest das Bad (Fußbodenheizung).. Ansonsten per Kamin und Pullover.
    Gestern ist hier im Revier ein Hirsch geschossen worden..da keiner der anderen Jäger darauf Anspruch erhoben hat, habe ich Herz, Nieren und Leber mit heim genommen. Leber für mich, Rest für zwei glückliche haarige Gefährten. Ach, die strahlenden braunen Hundeaugen.. :)

    He's darling, mykl - where on Earth do you find all these things :-)) ?? I got sooooo tickled - that translating agency outlined in #260, asked me whether I could possibly help their French translator with some English terms in the bit she was translating on a sound absorber for an exhaust system "break versus bow" - the thing was an Excel file, and both of us had come to the conclusion that it had been very poorly translated from the original German to English - this is what whomever had made out of "Schalldämpfer" http://images.google.de/images?hl=en&source=h...

    mykl, I sent them the same link, and added that at least the "translator" was consistent in his/her terminology: break and bow = I'm gonna break you, now bow your head - uses silencer, and then farther down was the term "cleaning" (up the mess made to my silencer) :-))
