One poster corrected 'aus USA' to 'aus den
USA'; others didn't seem to mind the usage without the article.
In English you may very occasionally see something like 'from United States,' but to my ears it's very unidiomatic, and I tend to wonder if non-native speakers are behind most such the-
less instances. So to me, it sounds wrong to omit the article in German as well, but then I'm not German.
Are there rules about this kind of thing in German? Is it always, for example, die
If the article is omitted, does it just sound more casual, or is it really wrong? Or is this a case where usage is in the process of changing?
Or does it just vary from case to case, and if so, what other examples in German should we be aware of?
