I would like to share two funny encounters I had with the British trying to master the incredibly difficult usage of metric units.
The first one is from a juice carton I bought a while ago from Somerfield. At the bottom it read "weight: 1 litre". Here is a picture I took, enjoy: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x318/Tawny...
Right, so the weight of this carton is 1 litre... well, I suppose "2 pints" would not be that much better, but it would look more British ;)
The other one is from a roadsign which I saw just recently on the way from Aberdeen to Ballater. Unfortunately I don't have a picture, but the text was "Golf course 1/2 ml ahead". Yes, the next golf course is only half a millilitre away... of course, in imperial UK this should have read "Golf course 1/60 fl oz away".
Just wanted to share these funny moments with you. This is meant to be taken with a pinch of salt, I just love such things :)
