    "Babble" must be said some other way in BE -- that explains why the dictionaries can't give me a striaght answer on how to say it.

    Man spricht auch von "lallen", vor allem im Bezug auf den Spracherwerb (so auch: erste/zweite Lallphase). "Brabbeln" ist m.E. eher umgangssprachlich (hängt also vom Kontext ab, was besser passt).

    I saw lallen once in a dictionary and used in in German. I got laughs. I was told this is what drunk people do, not babies.

    obwohl in der fachsprache "lallen" sehr wohl OK ist, hat es im umgangsspr. tatsächlich diese konnotation
