Es klingt nicht ganz so "erfrischend".^^

Ich würde es so evtl. so sagen:
// The pool invigorated us.
// The pool revived us.

Longer: The pool provided us with a needed refreshment. (A little cheesy, but it works.)

The swimming pool was refreshing.

Or the first two in #2. But I would avoid 'refreshment,' as it does usually suggest food and drink; and it's not usually countable or singular, so 'a refreshment' doesn't sound idiomatic here.
