OT re: "meet":
The "proper prefaces" in the Communion services of pre-1974* Lutheran hymnals in the US (and Canada) included the phrase "It is indeed meet, right, and salutary, that we should at all times and in all places...."
A friend, now a Lutheran pastor of many years, understood the phrase as "It is indeed meat, rice, and salad dressing...." and chanted it as such when she "played church" at home.
The post-1974 versions* are on the order of "It is indeed right and salutary that...."
* The standard hymnals of most Lutheran Churches in North America switched to a more contemporary form of English around 1974, although trial versions of the liturgies in contemporary English had been in use for some time by then. Goodbye "thees" and "thous"!
