Low ability is a Full Scale standard score of 69 and below and a percentile score of 2% or less. Individuals with this IQ profile may be considered Developmentally Disabled (DD) or Mentally Retarded (MR) and are now categorized under the special education area of Developmental Cognitive Disability (DCD).

Zwei Punkte, etwas OT, die aber an der Qualität des Textes und damit auch daran, dass minderbegabt hier überhaupt das eigentlich gemeinte Wort ist, sehr zweifeln lassen:

    "Es geht das Gerücht um, dass es in der Familie einen Streit gegeben hat. Rupps Frau, seine beiden    Töchter und ihr Lebensgefährte Matthias werden schnell verhaftet."

Ein Musterbeispiel für einen mehrdeutigen Satz! Wessen Lebensgefährte soll Matthias denn sein? Von Rupps Frau (ungewöhnlich, bei einer offenbar bestehenden Ehe)? Oder von (beiden) Töchtern? Oder nur von einer? - dann wäre der Satz aber falsch.

    "Alle Verdächtigen sind per Definition minderbegabt und haben einen IQ von unter 70."

Hier ist "per Definition" falsch verwendet. Dies würde nur Sinn ergeben, wenn jeder Verdächtige aufgrund des Verdächtigseins automatisch minderbegabt ist, also die Minderbegabung Teil der Definition eines Verdächtigen wäre. Das ist offenkundig Blödsinn.

The term "intellectual disability" used in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) replaces “mental retardation” used previously.

Although the term 'intellectual disability' is becoming accepted internationally, 'learning disability' is the most widely used and accepted term in the UK.

The WHO classifies severity of an intellectual disability as:[1, 5]

• Mild (0.1-2.3 percentile): approximate IQ range of 50 to 69 (in adults, mental age from 9 to under 12 years). Likely to result in some learning difficulties in school. Many adults will be able to work and maintain good social relationships and contribute to society.
• Moderate (0.003-0.1 percentile): approximate IQ range of 35 to 49 (in adults, mental age from 6 to under 9 years). Likely to result in marked developmental delays in childhood but most can learn to develop some degree of independence in self-care and acquire adequate communication and academic skills. Adults will need varying degrees of support to live and work in the community.
• Severe (below 0.003 percentile): approximate IQ range of 20 to 34 (in adults, mental age from 3 to under 6 years). Likely to result in continuous need of support.
• Profound ((below 0.003 percentile): IQ under 20 (in adults, mental age below 3 years). Results in severe limitation in self-care, continence, communication and mobility.

Als PC gilt/galt (mentally) less-abled. Ich habe es jetzt aber schon länger nicht mehr gelesen. In jedem Fall war das mal ok und ja geradezu eine wörtliche Übersetzung.

Der Fall Rupp ging damals (etwa 10 Jahre nach der Tat) ziemlich durch die Presse, da bezweifelt wurde, ob das bereits verhängte Urteil zu Recht ergangen war. Der geständige Mörder habe möglicherweise nicht nur die Tragweite, sondern sogar den Inhalt seines Geständnisses gar nicht verstanden, da er stark "minderbegabt" war.
