Old thread, but I just ran into this term. It comes in a "Hinweis" under the Rechtsmittelbelehrung in a judgement issued by a Swiss court.
The "Frist" in question is the time after the judgement has been served during which an appeal can be filed.
"Eingaben per E-Mail und Fax haben keine fristwahrende Wirkung. "
I understand this to mean that submissions sent in by fax or email do not satisfy the requirement for filing within the time limit.
(And not to mean, as suggested in #1, that they do not extend the filing period)
Do you agree?
I've kind of given up on finding a way to translate this that sticks loser to the German, but I'd welcome suggestions, if anyone has an idea.
