Ich bin Übersetzerin im Bereich der Wirtschaft, und ich mache auch ab und zu kleine Übersetzungen
juristischer Texte. Heute bin ich leider bei dem obigen Phrase steckengeblieben, wie ich das genau ins Englische übersetzen soll.

Jegliche Hilfe wird sehr willkommen geheissen.

Old thread, but I just ran into this term. It comes in a "Hinweis" under the Rechtsmittelbelehrung in a judgement issued by a Swiss court.

The "Frist" in question is the time after the judgement has been served during which an appeal can be filed.

"Eingaben per E-Mail und Fax haben keine fristwahrende Wirkung. "

I understand this to mean that submissions sent in by fax or email do not satisfy the requirement for filing within the time limit.

(And not to mean, as suggested in #1, that they do not extend the filing period)

    Do you agree?

I've kind of given up on finding a way to translate this that sticks loser to the German, but I'd welcome suggestions, if anyone has an idea.

    Siehe auch: fristwahrend

Yes it means exactly what you think it means.

"shall not be deemed to have been submitted/received within the time limit given" perhaps?

Yes, closer to the German, thanks.

Thanks for confirming the meaning too, both of you, I needed that.

"shall not be deemed to have been submitted/received within the time limit given"

Thanks for this too, I like that that doesn't use "qualify as" or "requirement".

I think I'll add "duly" and call it done (barring any other brilliant suggestions)

"filings by fax or email shall not be deemed to have been duly submitted within the time limit given."
