    Accounts Assistant

Accounts Assistant - Jemand, der in der Buchhaltung hilft.

Assistant Accountant - Jemand, der für die Buchhaltung Verantwortung hat.
    Hoffe, das macht Sinn!

An accounts assistant is an employee in the accounts department. It could be a secretarial or clerical position that requires training in bookkeeping or data entry.

An accountant is a professional position. It requires a degree in accounting or finance, and probably also licensing as a CPA (certified public accountant: US) or CA (chartered accountant: UK). An assistant accountant is a junior accountant.

I'm curious now about how to express the difference between bookkeeping and accounting in German. Which of the many words in LEO is the most common one for an accountant?

An accountant is a Buchprüfer - in Germany you don't have to have a degree in accountancy for thi - there is no such thing in fact. You can pass an exam after doing a law degree. There must be other ways but I'm not sure (i.e. have a business degree and then pass the exam).
    An auditor is a Wirtschaftsprüfer.
Bookeeping ist Buchhalter and a bookkeeper is a Buchhalter(in).
    Hope this helps

Actually my "Steuerberater" (incl. degree and all that jazz) in the UK called himself an "accountant".

In which part of the world is an accountant the same than a "Buchprüfer"?

An accountant is not a "Buchprüfer" but staff who does record cash flows and the value of assets and liabilities. They calculate profits and losses ans so on. But it is not just writing down numbers. They are really in the business of supplying people with informations.

In German: Bilanzbuchhalter (Management Accountant) oder Buchhalter (Accountant)
