Ist das ein Sprichwort? Ich finde es leider nirgends, kann mir jemand erklären, was das bedeutet?

Clang, clang, clang," went the trolley,
"Ding, ding, ding," went the bell.
"Zing, zing, zing," went my heart-strings,
For the moment I saw him I fell.
"Chug, chug, chug," went the motor,
"Bump, bump, bump," went the brake,
"Thump, thump, thump," went my heart strings,
When he smiled, I could feel the car shake.

    Google :-)

"clang, clang, clang goes the trolley... ding, ding, ding goes the bell."

--> possible explanation: It's out of a famous broadway show.

Going WAY back - in [the musical] HIGH BUTTON SHOES, during the song "There's Nothing Like a Model T", the chorus sings:
Men: Let the trolley car Clang
Women: Clang Clang goes the trolley

as a salute to "Meet me in St. Louis".
