    Auslegung nach dem Wortlaut

    Gesetzestexte werden zunächst nach dem Wortlaut ausgelegt(im Gegensatz zu einer Auslegung nach Sinn und Zweck).

    Es gibt einen Fachbegriff dafür, er will mir nur gerade nicht einfallen...

    Irgendwie etwas wie "purportive"? "Contextual" ist das Gegenteil oder - also Auslegung nach dem Sinn und Zweck???

    I think the expressions you are looking for are 'the letter of the law' and 'the spirit of the law'. Right?

    Thanks, but not exactly. I'm not sure if those are the technical terms I mean, because I know that I've read different ones in legal texts - something which works with adjectives rather than nouns. Is there any other way of saying "letter" and "spirit"...
