    Allerweltswort/-name

    [coll.]
    Sources
Engl. "to put" wäre z.

Does that apply to the word too, as in "common place word"?

I think "all purpose" works better here than commonplace for a word that has a great number of meanings. Commonplace simply means common, commonly seen, and is sometimes used to mean ordinary, or unremarkable.

So, "commonplace," or more common, "common name" for Allerweltsname
