Not 'work'; 'paper' casually, or more formally, 'thesis, dissertation,' etc. See the archive for BE/AE differences on 'thesis'/'dissertation' with regard to bachelor's/master's/PhD degrees.
I'm not sure if 'maximum two-page' really works for me.
For every thesis/dissertation, a summary of no more than two pages / of a maximum of two pages, in German or English, must be attached/provided, showing the current state of research on the topic, the writer's research approach, and the results achieved.
As I understand it, it's not the state of your knowledge/research personally, it's proving that you are up to date on the state of knowledge/research in the entire (narrow) field.
'Results' may be better only if it's a scientific or technical topic; for a topic in the social sciences or humanities, perhaps 'conclusions' instead.
