    To answer questions like this definitively, you need to find a copy of the MLA handbook or whatever style manual is the accepted authority in your academic field. But in general, when in doubt, I'd go with English rather than Latin. Many Latin bibliographical abbreviations are now obsolete and won't be familiar to most readers.
