Wie sagt man das im Gespräch?

1. I'm supposed to say hello to you from Mr. X.
This works OK, but sounds just a bit like a "duty" (eine Belastung).
Besser ist:
Mr. X asked me to give you his best.
Mr. X asked me to say hello to you.

2. Please also say hello to Miss Y from me.
Oh! Don't forget to give Miss Y my greetings, too!

I guess maybe we ARE a bit more polite in American English with this stuff...


Note we usually don't say, "Mr. X asked me 'to greet' you." But we would say: "Mr X asked me to pass along his greetings." (his best greetings or just his best.)
Mr X might have asked, "Barbara, will pass along my greetings to Miss Y, too?"

Jemanden grüßen (als Zeitwort) wirkt ein wenig mechanisch. Auf Englisch eher Grüße, usw, weitergeben.
