Der Orangefarbene Schattenkolibri (Phaethornis philippii) auch Orangekehl-Schattenkolibri, Rotbrauner Eremit oder Dünnschnabeleremit ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Kolibris (Trochilidae). Das Verbreitungsgebiet dieser Art umfasst die Länder Peru, Bolivien und Brasilien. Der Bestand wird von der IUCN als nicht gefährdet (Least Concern) eingeschätzt.
Merkmale
Der Orangefarbene Schattenkolibri erreicht eine Körperlänge von etwa 13 cm, wobei der gerade Schnabel ca. 31 mm und der Schwanz ca. 57 mm ausmacht. Die schwärzlichpurpurnen Flügel werden ca. 53 mm lang. Die Oberseite ist dunkelbronzegrün, wobei die Hinterrückenfedern und die Oberschwanzdecken rotbraun gesäumt sind. Die Färbung des Überaugenstreifs und der Unterseite, sowie die Spitzen der seitlichen Schwanzfedern ziert ein Rostrot. Der Rest der Schwanzfedern sind bronzegrün mit einer subterminalen breiten schwarzen Binde. Die mittleren Steuerfedern haben lange weiße Spitzen. Während der Oberschnabel schwarz ist, weist der gelblich fleischfarbene Unterschnabel schwarze Spitzen auf.[1] ...

The Needle-billed Hermit is distributed in eastern Peru, northern Bolivia and western Amazonian Brazil south of the Amazon and west of the Tapajós. It is found in humid forest, often at forest edges, in bamboo and in plantations. It has a long, straight bill and the throat, breast and belly are orange. Like many Phaethornis hermits the central tail feathers are elongated and tipped white but note the orange tips to the other tail feathers as can be seen in photo 3.
