Thick, pale brown fabric with a sparkly surface due to large quantities of the mineral mica being naturally present in the clay. Pots are large, torpedo-shaped jars up to 2m high, and were used to transport wine, olive oil and a sauce made of fermented fish (‘garum’) throughout the Roman Empire. 2nd - 4th century.
