    In the US, assistant professors do not have the same relationship to professors as seems to be the case in Germany. They are definitely not "assistants to a/the professor".

    Yes, those are the titles we use, too. But not with the same meaning, quite, as in England, as I understand it, with the German system being different yet.

    For the meaning of (a US) Assistant Professor, think more like junior-grade Professor than Assistant (to a Professor).

    Ich sehe nicht, dass der Eintrag falsch wäre. Weder sind heute alle "Hochschulassistenten" zu "Assitenzprofessoren" geworden noch würde das die Benennung vergangener Beschäftigungsverhältnisse betreffen. Im entspr. Kontext kann Assistent Professor die beste Entsprechung für eine dt. Assistentenstelle sein.

    Ein Assistenzprofessor bezeichnet in D, A, CH jeweils eine ganz unterschiedliche akademische Position. Ein zusätzlicher Neueintrag wäre sicher sinnvoll, bedürfte aber eine sorgfältige Diskussion der systemischen can of worms. Vgl. ansatzweise: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professur#Assist...
