Der Grünschwanz-Glanzfasan (Lophophorus lhuysii), auch als Chinesischer Glanzfasan, China-Glanzfasan [1] oder Grünschwanzmonal [2] bekannt, ist eine seltene monotypische Art der Glanzfasanen aus dem chinesischen Hochland. Innerhalb der Gattung der Glanzfasane ist er die größte Art. Die Bestandssituation des Grünschwanz-Glanzfasans wird mit vu (=vulnerable – gefährdet) eingestuft.[3]
Benannt wurde die Art nach dem französischen Außenminister und Botschafter Édouard Drouyn de Lhuys.
Merkmale
Der Hahn erreicht eine Körperlänge von 76 bis 80 Zentimeter, die Henne bleiben mit 72 bis 75 Zentimeter Körperlänge etwas kleiner. Das Gewicht beträgt bei den Männchen etwa 3,6 Kilogramm. Die Weibchen sind leichter und wiegen circa 3,2 Kilogramm. Es besteht ein ausgeprägter Geschlechtsdimorphismus.[4] ...

Descrizione
Come tutte e tre le specie del genere Lophophorus, il maschio ha un piumaggio molto più vistoso e colorato rispetto a quello delle femmine; nel caso del lofoforo di L'Huys il maschio ha il muso di colore verde con gli occhi bordati di azzurro, il collo di color rosso che tende all'arancione sulle spalle, la coda e le ali sono di un color azzurro-verdognolo, il dorso è verde e bianco, il becco è nero, mentre le zampe son grigie; la femmina alterna tonalità di marroncino al color crema, il tutto picchiettato di nero
Biologia
Il lofoforo di L'Huys normalmente forma coppie monogame, la femmina depone fra aprile e maggio dalle tre alle cinque uova,di color crema screziate di rosso, che cova per circa 28/29 giorni. ...
