The blue-billed curassow, endemic to Colombia, is a large (82–92 centimeters (cm) (32–36 inches (in)), tree-dwelling member of the Cracid family (Cracidae) (Salaman et al. 2001, p. 183; del Hoyo 1994, p. 36; Collar et al. 1992, p. 154). The blue-billed curassow (Crax alberti) or blue-knobbed curassow is a species of bird in the family Cracidae, which includes the chachalacas, guans, and curassows. They weigh between 7-8 pounds and have a herbivorous diet of fruit and greens.[2]
Like other birds, the blue-billed curassow also likes to "sing," or in this case "boom." The males have been observed puffing out their plumage, hunching over, and producing low frequency booms or growls. They sing like this in the mornings and nights. Their songs may serve to ward off rival males, attract a potential mate, or to help maintain their current pair bond with a female.[2]
It is found only in Colombia; areas of its range in the south and east are bordered by the Magdalena River. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.

El paujil colombiano (Crax alberti), también conocido como pavón piquiazul 2, pavón colombiano, hocco piguiazul, muitú de pico azul y opón, es una especie de ave galliforme de la familia Cracidae endémica del norte de Colombia, desde el piedemonte de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta hasta la cuenca baja y media del río Magdalena. No se conocen subespecies.3
Descripción
Alcanza en promedio 91 cm de longitud. Sus plumas son negras y brillantes, excepto en la punta de la cola y el abdomen, donde son blancas. El macho presenta sobre el pico carúnculas y cera de color azul. El pico de la hembra carece de prominencias pero la base también es azul, sus partes bajas castañas, pecho y cola con línas blancas y tiene una fase de color rojizo.4
