Das Schwarzkopf-Glanzschwänzchen (Chalcostigma stanleyi), manchmal auch Blaurücken-Glanzschwänzchen genannt, ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Kolibris (Trochilidae). Die Art hat ein großes Verbreitungsgebiet, das die südamerikanischen Länder Ecuador, Peru und Bolivien umfasst. Der Bestand wird von der IUCN als nicht gefährdet (Least Concern) eingeschätzt.
Merkmale
Der Schwarzkopf-Glanzschwänzchen erreicht eine Körperlänge von etwa 12 bis 13 cm, wobei der kurze Schnabel 1,2 cm lang ist. Das Männchen ist überwiegend rußig braun, fast schwarz im Gesicht und an den Seiten des Halses und mit einem violettblauen Glanz auf dem Rücken. Der zirka 4,6 cm lange stark gegabelte Schwanz ist stahlblau. Der längliche und spitze Kehlfleck glitzert grün und wird am unteren Ende glitzernd violett. Die Weibchen sind sehr ähnlich, haben aber einen kürzeren Schwanz, weniger schwarzen Glanz am Rücken und keinen glitzernden Kehlfleck, stattdessen sind sie dort weißlich mit bronzefarbenen Sprenkeln. ...

The blue-mantled thornbill (Chalcostigma stanleyi) is a species of hummingbird native to the high-altitude forest and grassland regions of Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies are currently recognized: C. s. stanleyi (Bourcier, 1851), C. s. versigulare (J. T. Zimmer, 1924), and C. s. vulcani (Gould, 1852).[2]
Description
The species has a dark blue and green back and wing feathers, and a dark brown and green body. The crissum (the undertail coverts surrounding the cloaca) is cinnamon with a scaly pattern. A thin green and purple strip is found on the throat and a small part of the breast in males.[3] There is a white line in the corner of the eye, and white down feathers are present near the vent. The needle-like beak, specialized for extracting nectar from small flowers (including the genera Berberis, Gaultheria, Ribes, and Gentiana), is about the same size as the head and black in color.[4] As other hummingbird species, the blue-mantled thornbill also feeds on insects. ...
