The chicken dance and the funky chicken are two different songs and dances. Only the chicken dance corresponds to the Ententanz.

The original name of the song was "Der Ententanz" (The Duck Dance), by the Swiss accordionist Werner Thomas. He played it in restaurants and hotels from the 1950s through the 1960s.

"Do the Funky Chicken" is a song written and recorded by American R&B singer and entertainer Rufus Thomas for Stax Records in 1969. The song was used as the title track of Thomas' 1970 LP, Do The Funky Chicken.

The two YouTube performances make extremely clear that these are not the same song or dance. "Do the Funky Chicken" is R&B; "The Chicken Dance" is oom-pah.

As a former German teacher I have danced and taught "The Chicken Dance" hundreds of times. I have never danced "The Funky Chicken."
