Mit einer Gesamtlänge von 22-24 cm und einem Gewicht von 120-137 g gehört die Jobi-Taube zu den kleineren Vertretern ihrer Gattung. Das Gefieder ist überwiegend grau bis grauschwarz. Ein breiter Streifen im Gesicht, Kinn, Kehle und Brust sind weiß. Der Schnabel ist schwarz, die Iris dunkelbraun und die Füße sind purpurrot. Die Farbunterschiede zwischen den Geschlechtern sind geringfügig [2; 4].

Die Jobitaube (Pampusana jobiensis, Syn.: Alopecoenas jobiensis, Gallicolumba jobiensis), auch Jobi-Erdtaube oder Weißbrust-Erdtaube genannt, ist eine Art der Taubenvögel. Sie kommt in mehreren Unterarten ausschließlich auf einigen südostasiatischen Inseln vor. Die Unterart Pampusana jobiensis chalconota, die auf Guadalcanal, Makira und Vella Lavella vorkam, ist mittlerweile ausgestorben.
Erscheinungsbild
Die Jobitaube erreicht eine Körperlänge von 25 Zentimetern.[1] Sie ist damit etwas kleiner als die Lachtaube, weist jedoch den charakteristischen Körperbau der Indopazifischen Erdtauben auf und ist kurzschwänziger und hochbeiniger als die Lachtaube. Verglichen mit anderen Arten der Indopazifischen Erdtauben ist sie jedoch auffallend weniger plump und gedrungen gebaut. Die anderen Arten dieser Gattung sind außerdem auffallend hochbeiniger. Der Geschlechtsdimorphismus ist nicht sehr stark ausgeprägt. Das Gefieder der Männchen glänzt insgesamt etwas stärker.
Der Kopf der Jobitaube ist dunkel blaugrau. Von der oberen Schnabelbasis zieht sich ein sehr breiter weißer Streif über das Auge bis in den Nacken. Die Kehle und die Brust sind weiß. Der hintere Hals ist grau und geht zum Mantel in den Flügel in ein dunkles, rötliches Purpur über. ...

The white-breasted ground dove, white-bibbed ground dove, or purple ground dove (Pampusana jobiensis) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
This species was formerly in the genus Alopecoenas Sharpe, 1899, but the name of the genus was changed in 2019 to Pampusana Bonaparte, 1855 as this name has priority.[2][3]
