Good grief. One more vote here.
Though there is one of those 14 entries that's right:
one hundred years old - hundert Jahre alt
While we're at it, a few others that probably need attention: Dictionary: *jährig
octenniel - achtjährig
(typo, should be 'octennial')
years of age - jährig
(should probably be 'Jahre alt')
long lasting - langjährig
long standing - langjährig
('long-lasting' needs a hyphen if it's right at all -- but isn't it more like 'langlebig'?)
('longstanding (adj.)' is one word; phrases like 'of long standing,' 'of many years' standing,' 'many years of,' could also be added)
full age - volljährig
('full age' should be changed to 'of age,' as 'of full age' is already in, and *'full-age (adj.) does not exist; I would also suggest possibly just 'adult (adj.)')
six year old - sechsjährig
seven year old - siebenjährig
two year old - zweijährig
twelve year old - zwölfjährig
(all need hyphens)
If the LEO software can handle leading hyphens, it might be useful simply to add a set of general entries:
-year-old (adj.) - -jährig
-year-old (n.) - der/die -jährige
years old - Jahre alt
However, the last I remember, the software seemed to be having trouble with hyphens (and numerals), not including them in searches or archiving them properly and so on, so that may be too much to hope.
I also had a look at the '-genarian' entries:Dictionary: *genarian
Not sure why 'nona-' and 'octo-' are given in (adj.) form, since they're all basically the same concept: that is, normally nouns, only very occasionally adjectives. And the extra 'sexa-' entry could be changed into the missing 'quinqua-' entry.
I too have the feeling that in the past, people have not always been very careful about taking the initiative to check similar entries for consistency. I realize it's asking a lot, what with scarce staff and resources, but that's part of what would help distinguish LEO from sites like Chemnitz, odge, and dict.cc, if it could be done.
@ThomasJ: Howlers like this do occasionally turn up, since the word list was compiled over a period of years by various people. But you can at least be confident that nowadays corrections are among the highest priorities at LEO and will be made as soon as possible. Doris will probably be as dismayed as we are.
