icon, was ist denn daran lächerlich? Es ist schlicht so, dass adventure verschiedene Bedeutungen hat, nicht nur die des Abenteuers. Vgl. Wenn Du jedes Homonym lächerlich findest, dann kommst Du auch im Deutschen aus dem Lachen nicht mehr heraus.

@Merl: Das ist ja eine krasse Konkurrenz hier im Leo. Zweimal fehlgeschlagen an einem Wochenende, man traut sich kaum noch zu äußern. Man tut's aber trotzdem, weil irgendwann will er auch recht haben!

icon, ich befürchte, Du verstehst da etwas falsch. Es geht hier nicht um Konkurrenz oder Gewinnen, sondern um sprachliche Korrektheit. Und für diese sprachliche "Wahrheit" sind alles was zählt Argumente. Recht hat, wer die besseren Argumente hat - und das kannst bein nächsten Mal durchaus Du sein. Mein Tipp: recherchiere vorher für Deine Postings, dann weißt Du was Sache ist und hast bessere Argumente als "...ist selbstverstaendlich".

Interestingly, the Oxford dictionaries of busines and law do not list this as an entry. The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary says that the term is used in Scottish law. Strange. Black's is American and makes no reference to Scottish law at all.
