    Translation correct?

eine atmosphärische Dichte - atmospheric intensity

    Source Language Term

    eine atmosphärische Dichte

    Correct?

    atmospheric intensity

    Comment
The text refers to an artist's ability to suggest 'eine atmosphärische Dichte' in his paintings. I think using a literal tranlation such as dense atmosphere sounds more like a technical state of the upper atmsophere than of artist quality. Comments?

What's wrong with the word-for-word rendering "atmospheric thickness"? "Intensity" adds something to the translation that's not in the original.

I agree with Martin's observation that 'intensity' conveys a quality different to the German 'Dichte', whereas I dare to doubt if 'thickness' is the right expression as it is centered on the physical dimension rather than the emotionally and/or artistically concentrated expression (of a piece of art).

Thank you for all your help. In the end I used atmospheric density. After thinking about it I figured it was the best.
