One who sends goods from one place to another not in the same
city or town, esp. one who sends goods by water.

SHIPPER. One who ships or puts goods on board of a vessel, to be carried to
another place during her voyage. In general, the shipper is bound to pay for
the hire of the vessel, or the freight of the goods.
    Comment
seearching for 'shipper' returns several results, all marked [comm.], exclusively the only one that is the correct commercial term (der Absender) is not.

Shipper - Spediteur is is not really wrong, sure it is used. though from a transport specific point of view it's definitely wrong.

The shipper is the one who commissions the transport order, the freight forwarder (Spediteur) is the one who diposes/schedules the freight and the carrier (Frachtführer) is the one to acctually carry out the ransport.

IMO, the entry is not automatcally worng - just not very sophisticated. I suggest to remove the [comm.]-tag from all entries exept for
    - Befrachter
    - Verfrachter
    - Verlader
    - Verschiffer
    - Versender

    and add it to
    - Absender

    Cheers!

Here's a better English alternative. Leo already has the BE version but is missing the AE hauler.
