*Bei onelook wird auch noch http://dictionary.cambridge.org/results.asp?d... angezeigt, dort heißt es aber nur, dass dieses Wort nicht im Wörterbuch steht.

My New Shorter OED lists it:
wrily adv. var. of WRYLY.
It doesn't deserve its own separate entry to wryly, though. Should be an "(also wrily)".

In fact, the same principle applies to another pair:

wryly (adv.) (also:) wrily
dryly (adv.) (also:) drily

It may be true that 'wrily' is even less common, so it might be worth an (uncommonly also:). I personally might even vote for (nonstandard also:), to warn people against actually using either of these, but 'drily' at least is still seen fairly often.

I notice also that other similar cases could use some straightening up. They should probably be listed with the more common variant first:

dryer  (also:) drier
flyer  (also:) flier

and all combined entries for both words could use checking to see that both spellings are listed consistently. (Someone seems to have done it for about 90% of the drier/dryer ones, minus a handful marked [tech.], but most of the flier/flyer ones seem to be a random mixture.)

I don't think either 'fryer' or 'crier' has an alternate spelling nowadays, but it might even be worth checking everything similar, just in case.



OT: Why when I search on dr*ly do I only get dr- but not also -ly? I thought it used to be possible to use the wildcard character in the middle of a word.

Mir gehts auch darum, dass wrily laut LEO eine andere, zusätzliche Bedeutung hat.
Ich denke nicht, dass diese Bedeutung ausschließlich für wrily gilt und denke auch nicht, dass die Bedeutungen von wryly _nicht_ für wrily gelten.
Nachdem es nun doch in Wöbüs aufgetaucht ist, ändere ich meinen Wunsch, schließe mich CM2DD an und bitte um Zusammenführung von wrily und wryly mit den Bedeutungen _beider_ Wörter aus LEO und Schreibung von "wryly (also wrily)".
